FIRST GRADE FAMILY FUN NIGHT!

 On Wednesday, January 13 we had First Grade Family Fun Night!  We shared some first grade activities with parents based around a Penguin theme.  We had the students make (with their parents help) a penguin glyph.  It was completed based on how the children answered questions asked of them.  We then had students complete a sight word Quiz, Quiz, Trade activity using sight words.  Quiz, Quiz, Trade is played with flash cards.  Students have a card, get a partner, they show each other their card and answer the question or say the word on the card.  They then trade cards and go find a new partner! Next the students showed their parents how they spell words using the Cimo Spelling app on the iPad mini.  They were also able to show their parents other apps we use in the classroom on the iPad.  Last everyone was treated to yummy cookies and lemonade.  It was a fun evening!  Thank you to all who were able to make this event!

INDOOR RECESS!

We had indoor recess a lot this week and really enjoyed playing with the new Lego sets and board games that PTA provided for us!!  Mrs. Samuels also gave us her son Wyatt's Lego table which he no longer uses.  Thank you to all for making indoor recess even more fun!!

PAJAMA DAY FUN!!

WE EACH GOT A  STUFFED DOG FOR THE DAY!

We had a lot of fun our last day of school before Winter Break!  We wore pajamas for the day for our Polar Express movie and activities. We had a party given to us by Mrs. Sanchez, Mrs. Walden, Mrs. Gulick, Mr. & Mrs. Coulter, and Mrs. Lewis.  We had yummy treats and we played Pin the Nose on Rudolph! I hope everyone enjoyed their Winter Break - I sure did!

CHRISTMAS SING A LONG!

On Thursday, December 17 we had a Christmas sing a long!  Each grade level sang 2 Christmas songs and then at the end the whole school acted out and sang THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS!  It was fun!

80 DAYS OF SCHOOL!

Monday, December 14 was our 80th day of school.  Zero brought each of us 80 pieces of Captain Crunch cereal.  We skip counted by 10.  We decided to do a crazy picture of this day for fun so we did bunny ears!

Gingerbread Man Week!

The week of December 7-11 was spent completing Gingerbread Man activities.  They graphed which part of a Gingerbread Man cookie they took a bite of first,  colored a Gingerbread Man glyph according to how they answered questions,  and listened to several different versions of the Gingerbread Man.  Some students are beginning to get replies back from the Gingerbread Man they mailed to different places in the state of Kansas.

1st grade Christmas Program

On Thursday, December 4 the First Graders presented their Christmas presentation of JINGLE ALL THE WAY!!  They did an amazing job!
