THANKSGIVING FEAST

Tuesday, November 22 first grade celebrated with their annual Thanksgiving Feast.  We had sub sandwiches, a variety of potato chips and pumpkin pudding!  Each student made their own pumpkin pudding and all agreed it was delicious!  Thank you to everyone who provided us with the ingredients needed for our sub sandwiches or with potato chips.  HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!

Post Office Tour

Thursday, November 17 all first grade went to the Post Office to mail their Gingerbread Man post card to various schools around Kansas.  Students were able to put their post card in the outgoing mail slot then we went to the back, saw where our post cards landed and listened to Mrs. Stout give a great explanation of how mail is handled in Eureka.  We then posed for a picture in front of the Post Office.  Thank Mrs. Stout for the tour and Mrs. Carpenter (our school librarian) for setting up this activity

DINOSAURS!!

Friday, November 18 Ty Talley came to our classroom and explained facts about each of his 13 dinosaurs.  We enjoyed listening to him share his knowledge! Way to go Ty!!!

60th Day of School!

Friday, November 11 was our 60th Day of School!  We created turkeys to celebrate! (I had several students absent this day so not many are in the picture!)

Mrs. Countryman comes to visit!

Mrs. Countryman came to visit and talk with us this past Thursday.  She had us color Christmas themed pictures to be presented to community members who are shut ins.

NOVEMBER LATE START

We had a really different Late Start day in November!  We did a STEM activity where students had to create a tall tower with toothpicks, marshmallows, and gummy turtles.  I had 4 groups of students who worked together to create their tower.  Two groups were able to create a 7 inch tower that remained standing when they were finished.  All had a really good time attempting this task.
We also created turkey glyphs by answering questions about our Thanksgiving traditions. The feathers are foods that they eat at Thanksgiving.
