OUR FIELD TRIP TO SEE TARZAN AND TO TOUR FIRE STATION 37.

OFFICIAL PICTURES OF OUR TOUR

On Friday, April 29 we went to the Christian Youth Theater performance of TARZAN at Isley Elementary in Wichita, Kansas.  It was a very good play and we all had a great time watching it! We even got to practice being an ape and doing a Tarzan yell at intermission!  We then ate our lunch in their Science Lab as it was pouring outside and we couldn't go to a park!  We then went to the Wichita Fire Station 37 where Nathan Helten, Adeline's Dad is a firefighter.  The firefighters on duty that day gave us a very good tour of their trucks, where they sleep and eat, and how the students should not hide from firefighters if they are ever in a fire. An official photographer from Sedgwick County was there and took the pictures on the top.  You can find them on the Sedgwick County Government page on Facebook.

PAINTED LADY CATERPILLARS

Our Painted Lady Butterflies caterpillars have arrived!  We got them Tuesday, April 26.  Here they are on Thursday, April 28.  They have already grown some!  We are watching them eat and eat!  They should become chrysalis' sometime next week!!

WRITING TO 1,000

As students finish their 1,000 book we gather around them and cheer them on!!  Here Tanner is finishing his!  We have 11 students who have finished their book in our classroom.  We can hardly wait for all to finish!

EARTH DAY 2016

We wrote a story as though they were Earth and asked others to take care of them.  Students came up with really great ideas!  They know to take short showers, turn off lights when they leave a room, pick up litter, recycle, and reuse items that they can.  This is a few examples of our writing project.

Reader's Theater

On Friday, April 8 we acted out the story from our reading book, DO YOU LIVE IN A NEST?  It was a story about a bird that was coming to visit.  The characters were:  cricket, frog, turtle, dog, horse, lion, and bird.  All the animals worked together to make a nest for bird to stay in while bird was visiting.  The students did a very good job acting out the play!

Read and Romp!!

On Wednesday, April 6 we had our annual Read and Romp.  It was based around Aesop's Fables this year.  We would like to thank all the parents who volunteered to help with this.  It is always a very special day to the students.
